Louise Childress Lancaster, 90, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Friday November 12, 2010. Born in Lunenburg County, she was the daughter of the late, David J. and Ellen Owen Thompson, and the widow of James F. Lancaster. Mrs. Lancaster was preceded in death by four brothers, Carter Thompson, Roger Thompson, Herman Thompson, and Irvine Duffer. She was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, and retired from the Richmond Petersburg Turnpike Authority. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Childress Winfree of Colonial Heights; a step-daughter, Janet Louise Lancaster of Lynchburg; a step-son, James F. Lancaster Jr. of Colonial Heights; two grandsons, James Winfree of Powhatan, and Kevin Winfree of Prince George; a step-granddaughter, Carrie Lancaster; three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Jacob, and Grace Winfree; a brother, Claude Thompson of Blackstone. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in Woodland Cemetery, Chase City, Virginia with the Reverend Mike Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday November 17, 2010 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Colonial Heights Baptist Church, Building Fund, 17201 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
