Loyd Allen Dewberry Sr., age 93, of Hopewell, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, at Chippenham Hospital. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend, who lived a life full of devotion to his family and service to his country.

Allen was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and spent his career as a dedicated industrial electrician with Hercules Incorporated until his retirement. He was a man of quiet strength and cherished by many that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles S. and Bessie Lee Dalton, as well as four brothers: Howell S. Dewberry, Marvin T. Dewberry, Sidney A. Dewberry, and Donald F. Dewberry. Allen leaves behind his sister, Bonnie D. Nickerson (Bobby) of Chesterfield, and his brother, Otis L. Dewberry (Susan) of Hopewell. He also leaves his son, Loyd Allen Dewberry, Jr. of Naples, Florida, and his daughter, Debbie D. Wood (Chris) of Prince George, Virginia. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A special mention is made of Tammy Alfakih of Hopewell, who lovingly served as Allen’s caretaker in recent years and was a dear friend he considered a daughter.

Allen’s family will hold a graveside service to celebrate his life at Merchant’s Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George, Virginia, at a later date.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
