Margaret Hill Dacey, born March 20, 1925, in Eberstadt, Germany, departed this life on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the age of 97. In 1977, she was preceded in death by her husband, Major Donald D. P. Dacey, after 28 years of marriage. Survivors are son, Maurice D. Dacey of Prince George, VA and daughter, Donna E. Robinson of Dinwiddie, VA, six grandchildren: Wesley D. Dacey, Benjamin K. Dacey, Margaret Blair Dacey, Wendy Leeds, Gloria Moran, Michael Vreeland, also fifteen great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Margaret retired after 23 years of employment as an Accounting Supervisor from Allied Chemical Corporation in Hopewell, VA in 1987. After retirement, she immediately started her activities as a volunteer at Southside Regional Medical Center and as a volunteer tax preparer for low income and elderly people. As a member of Christ and Grace Episcopal Church, since 1962, she took part in many activities such as Sunday school, altar service, choir, feeding street people, and a mission trip to Belize in 2007. She was a member of the Amateur Fencers League of America and received second place (silver) in the Virginia State Foil Final Championship at the College of William and Mary in 1971. In 1973, she was very proud to receive the Presidential Sports Award in fencing.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2022 in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, South Prince George, VA 23805. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
