Margaret Ripley Edwards, 89, of Carson, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Born on April 10, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Willie T. Ripley and Virgie A. Ripley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie C. Edwards; and her brothers, Willie, Calvin, and George Ripley.

Margaret began her career in retail sales at Worth's Clothing in Richmond before working in the warehouse at CVS Pharmacy. She later spent many years with AMF Bowling, where she worked in various roles throughout the warehouse until her retirement. Outside of work, Margaret found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved tending to her flowers and gardening, cooking and canning, and always had a knack for fashion and decorating her home with style. She never passed up an opportunity to go shopping, whether for clothes, shoes, or just to browse. Margaret also treasured trips back to her hometown of Howardsville, Virginia, affectionately known to her as "the country." She looked forward to the holidays, especially Christmas. Above all, Margaret loved her family deeply and cherished every opportunity to spend time with them.

She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Gupton and husband, Anthony; stepchildren, Annette Walker and Bruce Edwards and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Cody, Kacie, Karl, Larry, Chris, and Stacy; great-granddaughter, Ava Grace; numerous step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin Ripley and wife, Maxine and Robert Ripley and wife, Louise; and her sister, Ellen Cobbs; and many other extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
