Mary Lori Lane

Mary Lori Lane, a beloved resident of the Good Neighbors group home in Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully at the age of 62 on Wednesday June 18, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd William and Mary Turek Lane and was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Lane Hirn and a brother, Gordon L. Mallory. Mary was a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church and the Special Needs Sunday School Class.

She was known for her bright spirit, infectious laughter, and deep love for life. She found great joy in bowling and was a proud and enthusiastic participant in the Virginia Special Olympics, her kind heart and warm personality made her a friend to everyone she met. She loved being around people — her joy was in the company of others, her presence at Good Neighbors was cherished by staff and fellow residents alike. She is survived by her loving sister Brenda Lane Edwards and husband Robert “Buddy” Edwards numerous nieces and nephews and her devoted caregivers at the Good Neighbor group home.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2025, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will be Private in Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
