Maxine Davis Vest, 88, of Petersburg, VA, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from a traumatic head injury on May 27, 2026.

Born on October 11, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Murdie Newcomb Davis.

She is survived by her sister, Lucille Townsend, and numerous nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Vest “Bill”; sisters, Mildred Davis, Lillian Hare, Louise Titmus, Virginia Vaughan; and her brothers, Robert E. Davis, Sr., Lloyd Davis, Raymond Davis, and Gordon Davis.

Maxine retired in 1997 from Central Fidelity Bank with 30 years of service. After retirement, she enjoyed walking at Southpark Mall with her friends and socializing afterwards. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, VA.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Rd, S Prince George, VA 23805, with the Reverend Mike Burchard officiating. Arrangements are by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA.
