Michael “Mike” Brien Battle, Sr., 56, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Born on September 10, 1969, he was the son of the late William Alexander Battle and Alice Snyder. Mike was a 1987 graduate of Thomas Dale High School.

Mike is survived by his three children, Michael Battle Jr. (Kristen Totoritis), Ryan Battle (Allie Wank), and Rylie Battle (Mason McClaskie), as well as his beloved grandson, Reid Larson Battle, son of Rylie. He is also survived by his former wife, Lisa Battle, the mother of his children, with whom he shared many meaningful years of marriage and a lasting friendship, along with her loving companion, Scott Barbour. Additional survivors include his brother, Billy Battle, and his nephews, Jimmy “Bear” Battle, Thomas “Termite” Battle, Kevin Battle, Ray Battle, and Wayne Battle. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by three siblings: James (Jimmy) Battle, Judy Battle Owens, and Dale Wayne Battle.

For several years, Mike worked as a welder, and throughout his career he was known as a hard worker who took pride in every job he undertook. Over the years, he worked for Honeywell and contributed to the long-standing family business, Battle Oil & Mechanical, as well as his own company, Battle’s Landscaping.

A passionate outdoorsman, Mike found his greatest joy on the water. He loved fishing of every kind, especially saltwater, and spent countless hours pursuing flounder, striper, tuna, and marlin. He also valued time spent relaxing with family and friends, often enjoying a drink in good company. In earlier years, he enjoyed coaching youth soccer and baseball. He also shared his life with his English bulldogs, Estella (Meathead) and Beefy, both of whom have since passed and remained dear to him.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the funeral home.

Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous in Mike’s honor.

Mike was a hardworking man whose passion for fishing ran as deep as his love for family. His life ended far too soon, but his legacy of strength, devotion, and the joy he found on the water will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
