Michael D. Beaver

Michael DeWayne Beaver, 58, of Chester, Virginia passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on the 9th of September 1964 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Shirley Beaver (80) and the late Mickey Beaver, and was raised in Forest, Mississippi.

After proudly serving for twenty years as a submariner in the US Navy, Michael continued to give to his country for an additional twenty years as an employee of the Department of Veteran Affairs, performing duties as an IT specialist in imaging at McGuire VA Medical Center. His compassion for his fellow man, dedication to honest work, and his good humor will always be remembered by those that had the honor of knowing him. He greatly enjoyed photography and carpentry and could often be found talking for hours on end in his workshop about anything and everything.

His kindness and wisdom will be missed by those that have survived him, including his wife of 21 years, Dawn Beaver (54 from Richmond, VA); daughter, Jessica Beaver (31 from Charleston, SC); son, James Beaver (28 from Hartford, CT); stepson, Joshua Allen (34 from Richmond, VA); daughter-in-law, Taylor Mason (33 from Richmond, VA); grandchild, Kody Mason (13 from Richmond, VA); brother, Johnny Beaver (53 from Lafayette, TN); sister, Edna Massey (60 from Philadelphia, MS); along with his many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and countless beloved friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road Amelia Courthouse, Virginia 23002. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia.
