Mitchell Charlie Simmons, Jr., 94, of South Prince George passed away on September 12, 2026. He was born on November 24, 1931, to the late Mitchell and Mary Washington Simmons.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Willene Rideout Simmons and his sister Helen Kelso.  He is survived by his two daughters, Michele Harris (Johnny) and Denise Aleksa (Jeff); four grandchildren, Brian Harris (Desma), Kevin Harris (Korrina), Corey Aleksa, his princess Gracie Aleksa; great granddaughter Reagan Harris, great grandson Hudson Harris; brother William Simmons, sister Frances Scarbrough (Lee); and several nieces and nephews. A proud U.S. Air Force veteran he served four years during the Korean War. Following his military service, he went on to graduate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) with a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Education. Mitch was a pilot who enjoyed flying his Piper Caribbean 150 airplane. He was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Family was his proudest achievement and greatest joy, especially his grandchildren. We would like to thank all of the staff at Commonwealth Senior Living at Williamsburg for their amazing care and compassion shown to our dad. We would also like to thank the incredible team, especially Mac, with At Home Care Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and support they provided in making his final days peaceful.
