On September 19th, 2026, at the age of 85, the Lord called Nancy McDaniel to be with Him in her heavenly home. Her kids affectionately called her “Mom” or “Momma.” Her grandkids have a debate over what name she should be called. For some, that name is “Nana” and for others it is, “Lala.” Anyone who knew Nancy understood that they did not have to be a blood relative to call her “Nana” or “Lala.” In fact, many friends, kids, and students she served in her time in ministry affectionately called her that.

Nancy was born to William Alexander Seay and Anne Earnstine Seay on September 25th, 1940 in Victoria, Virginia. She married the love of her life, Frank McDaniel, in 1972. They were married for 51 beautiful years.

Nancy loved many things. She loved Jesus and believed that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again for her sins, and for the sins of others. She prayed diligently, was committed to her church, and always reminded her family of the good news that Jesus brings. If Nancy had free time, it was commonly spent praying for her family. Nancy also adored her family, and treasured vacations, holidays, and any other occasion spent in the presence of family. She would do anything to spend time with her family. Her family often jokes about her major FOMO (fear of missing out). Perhaps it wasn’t a fear of missing out that motivated her. Maybe it was the joy she always felt while in the presence of those she loved. Time spent eating lunch, playing games, or talking on the phone was enough for Nancy to feel that joy.

Nancy was a diligent worker. As the kids were growing up and money was tight, it was common that she would handmake and sew all of their outfits for Easter, Christmas, and more. If her kids wanted something they couldn’t afford, she was determined to make it herself. Nancy was dedicated to her church, The Heights Baptist, and loved serving alongside Frank. They faithfully and generously served in youth and children ministry for 40+ years.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Frank McDaniel; her mother and father, Anne Earnstine Seay and William Alexander Seay; her brothers,Clifton Seay and William Seay and her sister Kathleen Holder, and her grandson, Geoffrey Williamson.

Nancy leaves behind a strong legacy. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Butch, Steven, Skip, Laura, Arthur, Donna, James, Ricky, Cathy, Lisa, Steve, Angela; her grandchildren and their spouses: DJ, Amanda, Nicole, Matt, Alexis, Stephen, Forrest, Shannon, Travis, Austin, Ashley, Josh, Michaela, Josh, Berkeley, Ian, Jacob, Duncan, Kevin, Madelyn, Decklin, and Logan; her nine great-grandchildren; by her nephew Paul and his children: Hannah, Evan, Caitlyn, and Eric; and by her niece Rhonda Holder and many other nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at The Heights Baptist Church, 17201 Route 1 South Chesterfield, Virginia 23834 on Friday, October 2, 2026. The service will begin at 11:00am, with visitation to follow. Reverend Steve Freeman will be officiating.
