Nancy Blankenship Simmons

Nancy Blankenship Simmons, 83, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on September 19, 2023. Born on July 7, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Richard N. Blankenship Sr., and Edna Irby Blankenship. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Butch” Simmons Sr.

Nancy was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. She worked at Washington St. United Methodist Church, and retired after 40 years of loyal service. She loved playing piano, singing, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Edna Jo Elizabeth Pecht, son, C.P. Simmons Jr (Julie), grandchildren, Gabrielle Spain Cliborne (Jacob), Hunter Christian Spain (Jade), Trevor Jennings Spain (Kayla), their father, Jerry Spain, grandchildren Ella Elizabeth Simmons, Cora Paige Simmons, great-grandchildren, Aubree Grace Cliborne, Masyn Jennings Spain, Carter Jennings Cliborne, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and beloved cats- Anna and Belle.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at St. Mark’s United Method Church, 225 Clairemont Street Petersburg Virginia 23825. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choosing.
