Nannie Elizabeth Chapman Weaver, 92, of Midlothian, VA, formerly of Sutherland Va. passed away on Friday, June 5th, 2026. Born in Christiansburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Kennedy Chapman and Augustus McGreavy Chapman. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Carlisle W. “Charlie” Weaver; her son, T. Wayne Weaver; brothers Charles Chapman, Bobby Chapman, Augustus “Pooder” Chapman; sisters Laura Lantz and Eva Martin and her best friend, Charlotte Dabney.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki W. Keith (Lee Walker), Lorie W. Newton and Rhonda W. Jordon (John) and son, Lloyd A. Weaver (Janet); daughter in law, Karen P. Weaver; grandchildren Benjamin W. Weaver (Emily Elise), Christan D. Martin (Peter), Mary O. Neufeld (Gary), Nicole W. Tant (Steven), Melanee M. Perkinson (Dale), Celeste D. Sheldon (Dylan) and Erin E. Weaver; great grandchildren, Caden Atristain, Brandon and Addison Tant, Aidan, Andrew and Ava Karys, Henry Weaver, Abigail and Arthur Neufeld, Brileigh and Bubba Perkinson, Laylin Darlington, Jackson, Maverick, Remington, Skylar and Wilder Sheldon; a great-great grandchild on the way, Brooklyn Atristain; extended family, Jeff and Cathy Martin and Charlotte Goins (Brian Cole); as well as her devoted neighbors, Leighton and Lynette King; sister-in-law Wanda Chapman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was affectionately referred to as Mother, Mom, Mam, Mamale, Mimi, Mammy, Grammy, Memaw, Oldie and Old Memaw by her children and grandchildren as well as her children and grandchildren’s friends. She was “Mam” to Elizabeth Reighard, Marybeth McConnell, Jenno Lovetro, Jill Saxton, LeeAnn Fenderson, and Jennifer Frenier. She could often be seen surrounded by her grandchildren’s friends who paraded into her room to entertain her, all of which knew her as Old Memaw. Nan was a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend and served the Lord since professing her faith at the age of 12 at West End Methodist Church in Roanoke, VA. She was a homemaker and raised her five children, always supporting them in all their activities, loved woodworking, sewing, crafts and painting on anything she could paint on.

Her children and grandchildren often sported clothes she designed and made. After the passing of her beloved “honey,” she moved in with her daughter Lorie where she called home since 2018. She went on many memorable adventures and could often been seen on Facebook in their selfie posts as they began each one, calling themselves “Thelma and Louise” shouting “on the road again” each time they departed. One of her most memorable trips was to Nashville, TN to the Grand Ole Opry where at 89, they announced her name and personally welcomed her there. Her last wish was to make another trip with her family to Nashville, however, due to her rapid decline in health, she was unable to go.

Nan was a founding member of Living Stone Baptist Church, attended Monumental Baptist Church and most recently Winfree Memorial Baptist Church.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of VCU Acute Care, Nayar Health Care and Josie and staff at Crater Community Hospice. In addition, a big thank you to the many who showed her so much love for the past several weeks at her home, with acts of kindness, calls, flowers, food, and visits.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard.  A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, with Master Senior Trooper/State Police Chaplain John Woodward and the Rev. Guy Murdock, Pastor of Believers Christian Fellowship officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. A lunch will follow at Monumental Baptist Church, 2925 South Crater Road, Petersburg, VA. Flowers are welcome or a memorial contribution to a charity of your choice can be made.
