Nestor Anibal Milan Sr., 98, of Chester, VA went home to the Lord on February 26, 2026. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He proudly served his country for more than 20 years in the Army. He was the late son of Arturo and Isabel Ponce Milan. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Milan, brother, Ramon Milan, and grandson, Jason Giddings.

He is survived by his wife, Madelyn Ruth Milan, Son, Nestor (Tony) Milan Jr. (Siobhan), daughter, Stephanie Evans, grandchildren, Karrie Dupuy (Mike), Daniel Giddings (Samantha), Stephan Giddings, Nestor (Caden) Milan III (Caroline), Baylor Milan,great-grandchildren, Alex Dupuy, Ryan Dupuy, Magnolia Giddings, Penny Giddings, Lyra Giddings, niece, Susie Huseman (Joe), and cousin, Geñito Pineiro. The family extends gratitude to special friends, Dale and Jan Waldrop and their daughters, Kaylee, Ashlee, and Emilee. And a special thank you to the providers of Right at Home and Crater Hospice.

Nestor was a proud graduate of the University of Miami becoming a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity during his time, and afterwards a lifelong member of University of Miami Alumni Association. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Colonial Heights and served as a magistrate of Colonial Heights. He taught at Richard Bland College and was an administrator at Virginia State University. Nestor enjoyed collecting a wide range of things in his off time.

Nestor retired as a Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Army’s Transportation Branch where he served in Korea and twice in Vietnam before retiring in 1974. Post service, he also retired from government civilian service as an instructor with the Army Logistic’s College at Fort Lee, VA, currently the Army Sustainment University. Between these careers he was stationed in Casablanca, Morocco; Istanbul, Turkey; New York City; Pittsburgh, PA; Ft. Eustis, VA; Puerto Rico (his birthplace); and Monroe, LA, where he met his wife of 59 years, Madelyn. His careers also sent him to every corner of the globe and his knowledge of 5 languages, when matched with his voracious reading habit, allowed him to hold a conversation with anyone, anywhere, about any topic, as he often did.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church 3110 Greenwood Ave, Colonial Heights, Va 23834 with a funeral service following. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 9th at 1:00 p.m. at Amelia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Rd, Amelia Court House, VA 23002. Arrangements are by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
