Nettie Lee “Doolie” Cutler passed away on June 14, 2023 surrounded by family at the age of 101. She was the daughter of the late Mebbie Moody and Durant Alphin of Pink Hill, NC; wife to the late Stan Cutler; and mother to the late Rom Cutler. She is survived by her son Gary Cutler and wife, Beth; granddaughters, Stephanie Cutler and Suzanne Peterson and husband, Paul; and great-grandsons Preston and Lucas Peterson. Grandson, Kris Cutler (Father Rom) and wife, Ruth; and great-granddaughter, Jessi Bailey. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones from Pink Hill, NC. She loved them all to pieces. Doolie grew up in Pink Hill, NC. She moved to New Jersey to work in a radio factory when she was 18 during World War II. She met her husband, Stan Cutler, during that time and they ultimately settled down in Colonial Heights, VA to raise their two boys, Rom and Gary. Doolie worked as a civil servant for Fort Lee, was a member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, and was the star of every party she attended – including those at the Dunlop House Assisted Living for the last four years. She never met someone she couldn’t be friends with – including the peacocks that lived behind her house. She loved to sing and laugh and give folks a hard time.
