Phillip Leon “Bubba” Whitmore, 85, of Chesterfield County, passed away on Wednesday October 26, 2022, at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond. He was born on July 5, 1937, to the late Alma Wheelhouse Whitmore and Hoyt Whitmore Sr. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Rhonda Pauline Whitmore; brothers, Hoyt “Sonny” Whitmore Jr., Claude Wayne Whitmore, and Ronald P. Whitmore; and a sister, Carol F. Whitmore Weis.
Mr. Whitmore was a United States Navy Veteran, then a Die Caster of Long Manufacturing for over 30 years. Phillip retired doing what he loved from his trucking business, Whitmore Trucking. After retiring, he loved spending his days with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife from which he adored for over 40 years, Sandra Whitmore; his daughters, Amy Collins and Tammy Lovely; sons, Brian Lovely and Mark Kerston; his grandchildren that were in his heart, Haleigh Stables, Hannah Stables, Sofia Kersten, Jeremy Bennett, Austin Lovely and Noah Lovely; his lifelong best friend, Aubrey Gibbs (Karen); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Rd, Amelia Courthouse, Virginia 23002. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
