Phyllis White Strum, 63, of Chester passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025. Born May 2, 1962, she was the daughter of Deloris Jacquelyn Morton Ridout and the late George Geza White.
Phyllis retired as a structural analyst in statistics from the Federal Reserve System after 22 years of dedicated service, where she was known for her reliability, warmth, and quiet determination. Outside of work, she found her greatest joy in simple, beautiful things like flowers in bloom, the songs of birds, and the quiet companionship of her beloved dog, Cooper, her best friend and constant sidekick.
She was the heart and rock of her family, steady, nurturing, and loving. Phyllis’s love extended far beyond her own home; she was a second mother to many of her son’s friends, offering them the same caring love.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Warren Vallie Strum; beloved son, Ryan Vallie Strum; sisters, Jeania Hollie, Jessi White; brother, Sean Marshall; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
A memorial service will announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center, Box 843042, Richmond, VA 23284-3042. Online condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
