It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Richard Haney Loftis, 63 of Prince George, VA. Richard passed peacefully on July 2, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion Loftis and James Loftis.
To know Richard was to love him. He was a kind soul with a welcoming spirit who never met a stranger. Whether family, friend, or someone he had just met, Richard had a way of making everyone feel at home.
Born and raised in Hopewell, Virginia, Richard was a lifelong football fan, he proudly supported the Hopewell Blue Devils, and his passion for the Washington Redskins was a constant throughout his life. After many successful years in the manufacturing industry, he enjoyed a well-earned retirement, spending his days doing what brought him the greatest happiness - making memories with his family.
Richard was a devoted family man whose greatest source of pride and happiness was the people he loved. His profound love for his wife, Roberta, was steadfast and enduring, serving as a beautiful example of loyalty, commitment and unconditional love. His family always knew they were cherished, and the legacy of his love will remain in their hearts forever.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Roberta; children Jimmy, Tiffany Arrington (Steve) and Rainey Green (James); grandchildren Carter, Vivi, Gabe and Kayleigh who were his pride and joy. He also leaves behind a cherished uncle, Glenn, (Jackie) along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave so freely and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Friends and family are all invited to celebrate Richard’s life for a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
