Richard Logue, Jr.

Richard Tobin “Rocky” Logue Jr., 75, of Chester passed away December 6, 2021. Rocky was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 9, 1946, to the late Richard T. Logue Sr. and Louise Logue. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Emily Faunce and Patricia Lanctot; sister-in-law, Judy Dahlkemper; brother-in-law, Chris Tarbell and best friend, Joseph F. McCarton.

He enlisted in the US Navy in March 1967 in Bristol, Pennsylvania. During his 30 year career, he advanced to Master Chief Gunners Mate Technician, then commissioned to Chief Warrant Officer in July 1985 as a Surface Ordnance Officer. He served time aboard Submarines, Destroyers, Cruisers and Aircraft Carriers, as well as overseas tours in Italy and Guam. He retired in March of 1997 as a CWO4 from the Navy Weapons Station Yorktown, Virginia.

Richard was a long-time member of the Fort Lee Memorial Chapel. He also was a member of the Manchester Masonic Lodge #14, The American Legion Post #284, The Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Delhaas HS Sports Hall of Fame. Rocky was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan and any team playing against the Dallas Cowboys! He was an avid golfer at Fort Lee, enjoyed travelling and had a passion for raising the children in his chosen family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Janice L. Logue; son, Richard T. Logue; daughter, Jennifer J. Logue; granddaughter, Harlee A. Logue; special nieces and nephews, Trevor Dahlkemper (Kristina), Tiffany Sacks and her children Evan, Aiden and Dillon, Christy Doyle, Dick Faunce and many others; brothers-in-law, Chris Dahlkemper and Jamie Tarbell; sister-in-law, Robin Green (Barb Brennan); also “Chosen” Families: The Rosas, Thompson/Thayer and The Sharpes; best of friends, Pearl S. Branch and Jennifer Maul and many other friends and family and his beloved dog, Snow White.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2021, with a visitation one hour prior at Destination Church, 5258 Oaklawn Boulevard, Hopewell, Virginia 23860. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rocky’s name to Destination Church, Ft. Lee Memorial Chapel, 1901 Sisisky Boulevard, Fort Lee, Virginia 23801 or the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.
