Richard H. Roddenberry, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully at his home on May 27, 2026, in Chester, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard H. Roddenberry and Edna T. Roddenberry Hayes, and brother, John E. Roddenberry.

Rick graduated from Dinwiddie High School (1971), served in the National Guard and owned and operated Union Air Heating and Cooling, Inc. with his brother Danny for 40+ years. He enjoyed spending time at his beach home in the Outer Banks, hunting, fishing, traveling, eating breakfast at Dance’s, and spending time with his family.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda; children, Jay (Holly), Nick (Erin), and Stephanie (Theodore); grandchildren Reed (Abby), Miles (Julia), Sydney, and Ellie; great-grandchild, Luke; brother, Danny (Debbie); mother-in-law, Betty Waller; along with many other family and friends who will deeply miss him.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 am with funeral service to follow on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at The Heights Baptist Church, 17201 Route 1, South Chesterfield, VA. Interment will immediately follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA.

The family sincerely appreciates the telephone calls, visits, and kindness received during Rick’s illness. Special thanks to his entire medical team, especially Karen Jones for the many years of his personal care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the American Cancer Society or St. Judes Children’s Hospital. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
