Richard Franklin Ward, Jr. (Ric) of Colonial Heights passed away on July 10, 2018 at his home on Swift Creek. Ric was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Richard Ward and a sister Peggy Ward Brown. Ric is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eloise Britton Ward; three children, Lauri Henderson (Eric), Alexis W. Robinson, and Richard F. Ward, III (Phyllis); three grandchildren, Abigail and Ward Henderson, and Richard F. Ward, IV; brother Dennis J. Ward (Wanda); sister, Kathy Saxton (Andre); and five nephews. An exceptional craftsman and visionary, Ric built wonderful living spaces enjoyed by both family and friends. Growing up and raising his family on Swift Creek he shared his joy of being on the water. A long-time banker, he assisted with the redirection of Rivers' Bend "Vision on the James" as well as the acquisition and development of the 500-acre planned unit development known as Ironbridge in Chesterfield County. He was President of the Central Virginia Chapter #129 of the Institute of Financial Education. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Highland United Methodist Church, 135 E. Westover Ave., Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church.
