Robert Bishop

Robert C. "Bobby" Bishop, 81, of Chesterfield, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at MCV Medical Center. He was the son of the late John Otis Bishop Sr. and Florence Riddle Bishop, and was preceded in death by two brothers, John Otis Bishop Jr. and William Earl Bishop, and a sister, Bertha Pugh. Mr. Bishop was a retired Air Force veteran having served during the Vietnam War, and a recipient of the Bronze Star. He retired from Shell Chemical Company as a Manager. He was a member of the DAV, Hopewell VFW, and the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284. Mr. Bishop is survived by his Irish wife of 55 years, Mary Hogan Bishop; two sisters, Beatrice Thayer and husband, Leslie of Dinwiddie, and Louise Woolridge of Hopewell; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family in England, Ireland, and Australia. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2009 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Keith Ritchie officiating. Interment Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
