Robert “Bob” Moore Covington, 79, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, entered his heavenly home on November 10, 2025. Born on January 17, 1946, Bob was the son of Martha Lee Cotten and Robert Banks Covington, and stepfather Aubrey Lee Cotten. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Betty Kay Furman Covington, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and outdoor adventures. Bob is survived by his children, Robert A. Covington and his wife Rotha, and Martha Kay Covington, as well as his devoted caregiver, Allison Springer, whose compassion and care brought comfort and dignity to his final years. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Lee Morton and her husband Bill, his twin brother, Richard B. Covington and his wife Marilyn, and his sisters-in-law, Johnnie Dale Humphrey and Barbara Jean Story and her husband Wayne. Bob leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, confidantes, and close friends, including Bill Lee and Andy Curtis, whose friendship he deeply cherished. Bob dedicated 46 years of service as a Senior Right-of-Way Agent with the Virginia Department of Transportation, where he was known for his integrity, expertise, and unwavering commitment to his work. An avid outdoorsman, Bob found joy and peace in nature. He cherished countless memories of hunting and fishing trips with his wife and children and delighted in introducing young people to the outdoors. He believed deeply in helping others and was gifted with his hands, whether building homes, fixing mechanical equipment, or lending his skills wherever needed, Bob was always ready to serve. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the VCU LVAD team for their exceptional care, support, and kindness. A Celebration of Life will be held at Highland United Methodist Church 125 E. Westover Avenue Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MCV Foundation, 1021 E.
