Robert Phillip Miller

October 5, 1951 — May 31, 2024

Petersburg

Robert Phillip Miller was born October 5,195l in Petersburg, Virginia to Sarah and Otis Miller. Sadly, he passed away from a heart attack on Friday, May 31, 2024. He is survived by his sister, Jane Stewart (Buck), niece, Tamara Robinson (Lonnie), and nephew Ryan Browning (Amanda).  He lived his entire life in Petersburg. After graduating from Petersburg High School, he went to work for Brown & Williams Tobacco Co. He started working for Chesterfield County in 1984 and retired in March of 2015. Phil had so many friends! Everyone knew him as a kind humble human being with a wonderful sense of humor.  He lived a simple life and was a delight to be around, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it.  Although not related by birth, he was family to Cindy Altman and her daughter Tracie Cheely (Steve) and son Adam Woolridge (Linnea) and their extended families for many, many years ’til his death. In later years, he also enjoyed a close friendship with Anthony Evans, his daughter’s MacKenzie, and Monica and their aunt Cynthia.  Anthony and Phil were business partners in a lawn service they started after Phil retired. You hardly saw one without the other. His “second home” was Wynne’s BP Service Station where he was fondly referred to as “security”. He would spend lots of time joking and carrying on with the owner, Wynne Churn, and the gang at the station.  Phil also treasured his very close friendship with Mark Suter and his wife Karen. He loved spending time with them on their farm and, from time to time, vacationing with them. They captured the essence of Phil and summed him up perfectly with the statement - “Phil Did Not Complicate Life”. He will be missed!  A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virignia23834.  Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Virginia.   The family will receive friends Friday, June 7, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
