Robert “Lee” Minor Jr., 70, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in the arms of his loving wife, Rita. He was born in Petersburg, Virginia, on April 28, 1952, to the late Robert Lee Minor Sr. and the late Evelyn Cibula Minor of Prince George, Virginia. Lee was a lifelong, faithful Catholic and member of St. James Catholic Church in Hopewell, Virginia, and later St. Ann Catholic Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia. He graduated from Prince George High School in 1970 and was a resident of Colonial Heights for over 50 years. He worked at WestRock in Hopewell for 44 years and retired in 2019 as a Crane Operator. He made countless friendships while at WestRock and continued to stay in close contact with many over the years, especially enjoying their long conversations. Lee is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Rita, and their daughters Heather Wheeler (Brad), Crystale Minor (Rick), and Amber Piccolo (Jimmy); grandchildren Haley Wells (Austin), Ava Wheeler, Adrianna Minor, Samuel Wheeler, Jimmy Piccolo III, and Josh Robertson (Carly); great-grandchildren Steele Wells, Bailey Robertson, McKenzie Robertson, and Nolan Robertson; sister Barbara Bright (Wayne); sister-in-law Rhonda Groeneman (John); uncle John Cibula; numerous family and friends; and his dog, Bug, affectionately known as “Ugly Dog”, and cat, Shadow. Lee’s greatest pleasure in life was being with his family. He loved riding his motorcycles with his wife for long trips or small daily excursions. The beach always called to Lee and he and his wife went with their camper every chance they got to spend time in the sun with family. Vacationing with his children and watching them laugh and bond “made his heart happy.” Lee was a “Free Bird” who just enjoyed living and laughing and will be missed immensely by all those who love him. A funeral mass will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. 17111 Jefferson Davis Highway S. Chesterfield, Virginia 23834. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. The family strongly requests no flowers. To express your love and thoughts for Lee, spend time with your family remembering Lee and praying for him. This is a celebration of the next phase of Lee’s journey, not a focus on mourning his death because death is not the end. Celebrate Lee’s life with loving memories and a smile towards his new and better life.
