Robert Daniel Stout, 90, of Dinwiddie passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Born May 5, 1935, he was the son of the late Lawrence Stout and Alice McKinney. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Priscillia Kay Stout; grandson, Timothy Daniel; great-grandson, Lawson Rogers; and siblings, Francis Perkinson, Charles "Buck" Stout, William "Butch" Stout, Louise Spively, Roy Stout, Dennis Stout.
Robert was a former member of Mansons Church in McKenney. A proud veteran, he served in the United States Army for 21 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant. After his career with the Army, he served for four years with the Army National Guard.
Following his time in the Army, Robert continued to work tirelessly throughout his civilian life. He was employed as a crane operator with Friend Sand and Gravel, where he retired after 27 years of service. He also worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation as a paint marker, retiring after 38 years. Not one to slow down easily, Robert later worked for Dinwiddie County as a maintenance operator for an additional 10 years before officially and finally retiring.
He loved music and especially enjoyed playing the harmonica. He spent countless hours working on small engines, a skill that matched his patient hands and mechanical mind. For more than 20 years, he served his community as a softball umpire throughout Dinwiddie County, a role that allowed him to stay active, connected, and involved in the lives of local families.
He is survived by his son, Charles Leon Stout; daughter, Martha Kay Stout; grandchildren, Joshua Stout and wife, Marcie, Tabitha Rogers and husband, Justin, Jonathan Stout, Elizabeth "Beth" Price and husband, Earl "Bubba", Katherine Hayes; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joyce Stout and Shelia Stout; special friend, Joe; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026 in Mansons Church Cemetery, 17211 Manson Church Rd, McKenney, VA 23872. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805.
