Rodger Dwayne Chandler, 66, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026. Born on April 21, 1960, he was the son of Myrtle Laformia Reese Chandler and the late Donald El Ray Chandler. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Keith Chandler, and his sister, Rhonda K. Chandler Hatchell.

Rodger spent many years as a toll collector on Interstate 95. He later joined Precon as a line worker, where he stayed for a few years until declining health led to his early retirement. Though he preferred to live a quiet, private life, Rodger was known for being the kind of man who would step up to help anyone he could.

He is survived by his loving mother, Myrtle Laformia Chandler; his daughter, Chastity Thomas, and her husband, Mark; his cherished grandchildren, Alden Rishkofski and his wife, Molly, Abigail Grinar, and Preslee Grinar; his brother, Marlon Chandler, and his wife, Denise; his sister, Donna Marks, and her husband, Craig; a close cousin, James Ostein; and many other extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
