Ronald Wayne Bishop

Ronald Wayne Bishop, 67, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023.  Born April 11, 1956, he was the son of the late William and Jean Rowland Bishop, and was also preceded in death by his mother and father in-law, Randolph and Charlotte Arthur. Mr. Bishop was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, Virginia.  Mr. Bishop worked as a technician for Honeywell for 32 years before retiring. He felt at home in the outdoors and loved to fish. Every year in the spring, he could be found canoeing down the rapids of the Appomattox River. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and would scarcely miss a game. He also enjoyed all kinds of music, with his favorite band being Lynyrd Skynyrd. He is survived by his wife, Janet Arthur Bishop; and their two daughters, Melissa and Laura Bishop; his sister, Billie Moe (Scott); brothers, Bob Bishop (Brenda) and Mike Bishop (Kelly); sister-in-law, Joanne Davis (Craig); brother-in-law, Stephen Arthur (Lori); and numerous beloved extended family members.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 1, 2023 in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, South Prince George, VA 23805 with the Reverend Robert Rowland officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. BOX 6704, Hagerstown MD 21741. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
