MSG Ronald Ray Lundie, USA (Ret.), 90, of South Chesterfield, VA, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, May 18, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Carl Lundie and Larkie McFadden Lundie; his son, Chuck W. Lundie; brothers, Leo, Alfred, Carlton, Kenneth, and Franklin; and sister, Elizabeth Lundie Driskill. He was also preceded in death by his twin, Donald Lewis Lundie.
He was a veteran and a retired Master Sargeant of the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea, three tours in Germany and two tours in Vietnam during the war. He also was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
Ronald also worked briefly at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, worked for Park 500, and with the Defense General Supply Company as a central office communications technician. Altogether, he had over 40 years of military and civil service work.
After retirement, he learned to play golf, and it became his passion. He was a charter member and former vice president of the Tri City Senior Golf Association. He started the “Chip-In Lundie Money”. Every golfer wanted to win “Lundie Money”. He sponsored the “Chip In” for the golfers and also during the banquet they would give out flowers to the wives. During his golfing years, he made “4” hole in ones. He was quite the athlete in his later years.
Ronald was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #882 for 64 years, a member of the Blandford Masonic Lodge, and a member of the American Legion Post 284.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Brenda Cole Lundie; two sons, Kirby Lynn Lundie and Ronald Ray Lundie, II; grandchildren, C.W., Myla Nicole, Ronald Ray, III, and Rylee Adaire; great-grandson, Trey; sister, Patricia Lundie Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ronald had numerous lifelong friends during his Army and Civilian life, especially Glen Karlen of Naples, FL and Jerry Radcliffe of Chesterfield, VA, along with many others. He never met a stranger and always included everyone in his life.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in East Matoaca Cemetery, S Chesterfield, VA 23803.
