Sallie Elizabeth "Liz" Franchok, 86, of Petersburg passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Born September 21, 1931, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Sallie S. Jones and was also preceded in death by her husband, George William Franchok. Liz was a former member of the former church, Highstreet United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She loved being outdoors, working in her gardens, enjoyed camping, was a Girl Scout Leader, loved to dance the Polka with her husband, and most of all, she cherished the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren, and dogs. Most people know her as a social butterfly and she was always the first person to volunteer to help those in need. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Elko and significant other, Keith Johnson, Marcia Franchok-Hill and husband, Sherwood Hill, Venita Grissom and husband, Richard Grissom, Sr.; and grandchildren, Stephanie Hill, Michelle Tilton and husband, James Tilton, and April Cummins. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23803. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service on Monday from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
