Sandy Clearman, age 75, gained her wings to heaven on December 29, 2021. She was born in Michigan City, Indiana on June 7, 1946, and is daughter to Melvin and Lillian Harris. Sandy graduated from San Bernardino high school in 1963 where she met her first husband, Leon Spiva. They were married that year and later welcomed three children, Micheal, Scott and Kimberly. They shared fifteen loving years together before Leon passed away. Sandy worked various jobs, sometimes more than one to take care of the family, all while earning her associate degree. She began working with children with cognitive and physical disabilities. She was a very caring and passionate person with anyone she met. Sandy met Gerald (Jerry) Cleaman in 1984, and the two had a fairy tale love. During their relationship they went on many camping adventures, cruises, and cross-country trips, they loved to travel and married in 1998. They lived together in San Bernardino, California until 2006, where they built their dream home in Collinsville, Mississippi. Sandy and Jerry lived happily there until Jerry was called home in the fall of 2007. Sandy then moved to Chester, Virginia to be closer to family in 2008. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was tough when she needed to be and gentle, funny, whitty and loving to all that knew her. During her life she loved to travel as much as she could. She loved all her fur babies, Sophie and Elvis, and has been reunited with her other fur babies Mitzy, Sam, Fancy, TJ, Apache, and Blazer in Heaven. She had the biggest heart and kindest soul. All who knew her were truly lucky to be loved by her. She was the best mom to her children and the most loving Nana to her grandchildren. She lit up every room she entered and always left people feeling loved. She impacted all the lives she touched so greatly and will be dearly missed. Her wisdom to problem solving or just being a great listener was just one of her many gifts. She loved to sew in her younger years and created the most amazing outfits for her loved ones. She taught us how to love, and we will carry her legacy on. She loved dressing up for Halloween and was known for her decorations on both Halloween and Christmas. She lived for her family and loved them deeply. Though, we know she is now with Leon and Jerry in the greatest paradise, she will be greatly missed and always loved. Sandy is survived by her three children. Michalel Spiva of Ohio and his wife Terria. Scott Spiva of Virginia. Kimberly Vargas and her husband Isaias Vargas of Virginia. Sandy is also survived by her grandchildren, Tyler and Kaitlyn Vargas of Virginia. As well as Chelsie Spiva of California and her great grandson, Oden. Sandy had one brother, Douglas Harris of Michigan and his three children, Cameron, MacKenzie, and Ian Harris. In addition, she is survived by her “adopted” grandchildren, Vivek Kuruvuilla and Daniel Puryear. She is also survived by her two pets, Sophie and Elvis. A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
