Shirley grew up on her family’s farm in Disputanta, Prince George County, Virginia. She attended school in Carson Virginia, and was named Miss Carson. She worked as management in the grocery industry until her retirement, and was a loving and caring homemaker until her passing. She had many hobbies, including hand painting ceramics, scrap booking, and her favorite hobby of both her and her daughters, shopping! She was well known in the community for her compassion, acceptance, kindness, and generosity to everyone she met. She extended the upmost courtesy and kindness to all, and was a beloved figure by not only her children’s friends, but her grandchildren‘s friends and neighbors in the community. She served as a pillar of strength and grace for her entire family, and was the glue that held everyone together in times of trouble or sadness. Her entire family affectionately referred to her as “Grannie”. She loved it, but the name of Grannie could never encompass how wonderful of a human being she was to this world. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
