Tommie Myers Lawrence, Jr., 97, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, after a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston, NC on February 14, 1929. He joined and served in the United States Navy for two years at age 17. After high school graduation, he moved to Richmond, VA, where he attended Barbering School and later owned a shop. Tommie also worked for Reynolds Metals and retired after 30 years. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie Myers Lawrence, Sr. and Mary Newell Lawrence; and his sister, Jean Rawls.

He leaves behind his wife, Marie Lawrence; only daughter, Gail Yoss; stepdaughter, Cheryl Gentry; grandchildren, Chad C. Yoss, and Amana G. Main; great-grandchildren, Spc. Nick Yoss, Army National Guard (Emily), Sgt. Justin Holder, III, Army (Kylee); great-great-granddaughter, Wrenley; and two nieces, Francis Anne Evans and Wanda Gail King.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Dale Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
