Virginia Kay Belvin

Kay Kitchens Belvin went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 11, 2024, after an extended illness. Born September 8, 1942, in Waynesboro, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late William I. and Grace Chance Kitchens and was also preceded in death by her husbands, Harry L. Patterson, Charles K. Strough, and Robert G. Belvin.

She was educated at the Academy of Richmond County in Augusta, Georgia. After marrying and moving to Virginia, she began her career in insurance.  She was a partner in K&C Insurance Agency in Petersburg, Virginia for many years and worked as a licensed insurance agent until her retirement in 2019.

Kay was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church in Dinwiddie and attended Sunday school. She loved her church family, her Sunday School ladies, Pastor John, and her deacon Jason.

She is survived by her son, Anthony Patterson (Deanna); stepson, Bobby Belvin (Kristie); granddaughters, Jessica Landis (Josh), Brittany Everett (Lee); grandson, Matthew Belvin (Emily); great-grandchildren, Logan, Natalie, Brooks, Cameron, Oakey, Hunter, Ella and Nathan; sister, Diane Kitchens Workman (Bill); nephew, Mark Workman (Anna); great-niece, Katelyn Workman; and great-nephew, Will Workman. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Kay’s caregiver, Sandy, and her ICU nurses at Southside Regional Hospital, especially Emily, for their extraordinary care of Mrs. Belvin in her time of need. 

A Celebration of Life service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Western Heights Baptist Church, 24416 Cox Road, Petersburg, VA 23803. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Western Heights Baptist Church, 24416 Cox Road North Dinwiddie, Virginia 23803. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Online condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
