J. Wayne Beachy of Petersburg, Virginia, died peacefully on May 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and family, after a lengthy battle with a neurological disease, just one day shy of his 80th birthday. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Alice (Schreiner) of Glen Allen, VA; his daughter, Alice-Ann Beachy and three granddaughters, Maria, Isabel and Susana Menjivar, of Silver Spring, MD; and his three brothers, Mike (Sally) of Roanoke, VA, Chris of Morristown, TN and Bill (Carol) of Christiansburg, VA. His son, Darrin, predeceased him. Wayne was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was an active member in his church, a former volunteer with the Chesterfield County rescue squad and fire department. Wayne graduated from Prince George High School, Virginia State University and served in the United States Air Force. Wayne loved trains and would create special scenes that he would take to local nursing homes at Christmas time.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Lucy Corr Assisted Living who took such great care of Wayne and always joked with “Beachy” on a daily basis and to the kind and thoughtful care provided by the Bon Secours Hospice Team.

The arrangements are under the care of the Colonial Heights chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory. The family will have a private ceremony.
