Wayne Hubert Underhill

Wayne Hubert Underhill, age 81, of Colonial Heights, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. Born in Petersburg on June 10, 1941, he was the son of the late Marion Storey and Wesley Lee Underhill. Also preceded in death was his beloved brother, Wiley Underhill, and sister, Donna Underhill Goff.

Wayne worked at the Post Office for thirty years and retired in 2000. He then started his own business, Wayne's Home Repairs. He retired several times due to illness and retired completely in 2020. Wayne was the past president of the Colonial Heights Moose and a Life Member, and was also a member of the American Legion, Colonial Heights.

Wayne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Joyce Underhill; children, Andrea Underhill and Andy Underhill and wife, Beth; grandchildren, Maddie Joiner, Hunter Underhill, and Harper Underhill; sister, Lois LaFond; brother, Warren Underhill and Joyce; sister-in-law, Glorias Underhill; and numerous devoted family members and friends.

The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the nurses and doctors in the ICU and CUCV at Chippenham Hospital for their loving care and compassion given to Wayne since April 1, 2023.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. and be conducted by Reverend Mike Murray of Covenant Christian Fellowship Church. Interment will be private.
