William “BB” Oliver Bandy, 91, of Colonial Heights, VA passed away on Friday, August 8th, 2025. He was born March 5th,1934 in Akron, Ohio to his late parents William McFarland Bandy and Josephine Mealy Bandy. He was also preceded in death by his infant son, James Edward Bandy.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Bandy, married 72 years, brother, Jimmy Bandy, sisters-in-law, Lois Ann Guschke (Mike), Nancy Owen (Roy), children, Kathy Bandy Magnusson (Mike), Tom Bandy (Holly), Becky Bandy Clements (Chass), grandchildren, Jack Williams III (Meghan), Alic Bandy (Brittany), Nick Bandy (Heather), Eric Williams (Rebekah), Laura Williams Min (David), Elizabeth Magnusson Meyers (Kurt), TJ Bandy, Johnny Bandy, pseudo grandchildren, Jane Guschke Varakin (Alex), Sarah Guschke Knapp (Ryan), Emily Guschke Winter (Matt), great grandchildren, Dani Williams, Lennon Williams, Nora Bandy, Colten Bandy, Elise Bandy, Connor Bandy, Cari Jo Williams, Philipp Meyers, Oliver Williams, Harper Meyers, Corbin Bandy, Luke Bandy, Emma Meyers, and numerous nieces, nephews, special friends, and caregivers.
Bill (BB) was a former member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, and a current member of First Baptist Church of Richmond, VA. He was proud of his time in the miliary, participating in ROTC in college, and serving on the National Guard as a captain for eight years. Bill (BB) had a long, successful career with Dupont, working in computer services, from 1956 – 1991, then retiring with B and Y services in 2024.
Bill (BB) was the neighborhood fix-it man. He helped operate Sherwood Hills Swim Club for 10 years, always had a listening ear to anyone who wanted to be heard, and provided well-timed but private loans to untold friends and family in times of need.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, with Reverend Robert Thompson and Reverend Lynn Turner at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church 3110 Greenwood Ave, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. The entombment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park 1911 Birdsong Rd, Petersburg, VA 23805. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
