William Kent Engels

On Saturday, November 16, 2024, William Kent Engels, known by most as “Kent”, unexpectedly passed away at his home in Colonial Heights, VA. He was born and raised in Matoaca and was a proud graduate of Matoaca High School and a member of Matoaca United Methodist Church. His love for laughter and light-heartedness was the driving force in his goofy personality. Kent loved spending time fishing and was a car enthusiast. He was most at peace when working on his Chevy Chevelle throughout the years or walking around a Chevrolet car show. He enjoyed spending time with his two daughters and four grandchildren. He loved watching all kinds of movies from the original Frankenstein, western classics, just like his dad, and Marvel movies. 

Kent was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Engels and his father, William “Billy” Jacob Engels. He leaves behind his sister, Anne Engels; his oldest daughter, Hayley and her wife, Samantha; his youngest daughter Amanda and her fiancé, Cameron; and four beautiful grandchildren, Maison, Owen, Lawson and Skylar. He would want everyone to remember the good ole’ times with a laugh and a good drink. Kent will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
