Benjamin Belcher

March 3, 1926 — October 30, 2005

Benjamin W. Belcher, Jr., 79, of Colonial Heights, died Sunday, October 30, 2005, at his residence.  Born in Hopewell, he was the son of the late Benjamin W. and Elizabeth Martin Belcher.  A US Army veteran of World War II, he was a retiree of Brown & Williamson Corp., and a former employee of Allied Chemical.  He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife, Ruby Sirry Belcher; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Bill Smith, Nancy and Bryan Small, all of Colonial Heights; granddaughter, Emily S. Smith of Richmond; and grandson, Adam C. Smith of Colonial Heights.  The family would like to extend special thanks to Priscilla Brown, Janet Schrum, and Pat Little for their care and concern during the past few months.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2005, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.  Reverend Rodney Sprayberry will officiate.  Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George.  The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
