Diane Starnes

Diane V. Starnes, 77, of Chesterfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Born May 7, 1943, in Chesterfield, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Arthur C. and Esther Martin Vaughan and wife of the late Marvin L. Starnes, who preceded her in death in April 2018. Mrs. Starnes was a full-time homemaker and worked tirelessly to raise and nurture her six children, by whom she is survived: Christian Starnes (Cherie), Kelly Royster (Scott), Heather Van Gieson (Victor), Joel Starnes (Angie), Aaron Starnes (Alisha), & Maria Turley (Spencer). She had 23 grandchildren and was expecting her first great-grandchild in 2021. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings: Alvin Vaughan (Cecil), Nina Shoosmith, Macey Vaughan (Vivian), Betty Hill, Marshall Vaughan (Lydia), & Frances Smith. Music was an integral part of her life; she was an accomplished musician, a private instructor for voice and piano. Mrs. Starnes will lie at E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 on Monday January 18, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia 23831 on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM and will be live streamed (link will be available at www.ealvinsmall.com).
