Elmer Butler

November 13, 1926 — March 2, 2021

Elmer Jennings “Bozo” Butler, 94 and lifelong resident of Matoaca, passed away quietly at home on Tuesday, March 2nd.  He was born in Matoaca on November 13, 1926 to Elmer Jennings Butler, Sr and Mary Payne Butler.  He was predeceased by his parents and a brother William Perry “Slick” Butler. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Dorothy Porter Butler; three sons Roger Butler (Ann) of Prince George, Galen Butler (Cara) of Franklin, and Whitney Butler (Sonja) of Providence Forge; and two grandsons Knox and Ellis Butler of Franklin.  He was a veteran of World War II serving occupation duty with the Army in Japan.  An accomplished pitcher of the baseball well into his thirties, his other great passion was bluegrass music.  Funeral service will be private.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Chesterfield Community Church – 7110 Woodpecker Road – Chesterfield, VA  23838.  Family wishes to thank the staff of Kindred Hospice and family friend Monika Eudailey for their care and support these last few weeks.   Arrangements will be by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
