Frank Kipp, Jr.

Frank Edward Kipp, Jr., 89, of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully Monday June 7, 2021.  He was born June 8, 1931 in Bronx, NY to the late Frank Edward Kipp, Sr. and Edna Haas Kipp.  Frank was preceded in death by granddaughter, Jacey L. Maxey; brother, Edward Kipp; sister, Dorothy Haupt; and son-in-law, Steve Edwards.  Frank is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carole Hayes Kipp; eight daughters, Marie Thompson (Bret Gentry), Susan Pennino (Mike), Deborah Hill-Rakowski (James), Teresa Mitchell (David, Jr.), Pamela S. Edwards, Terrie L. Maxey, Cynthia D. Thompson (Sheldon), and Amy Hayes; 17 grandchildren, Jeremy Thompson (Lauren), Marc Thompson (Nicolle), Justin Humphries, Christopher Hill, Rachael Hill, William Hill (Kayla), Joy Nelson (Matthew), LauRae Lipscombe (Davis), John Mitchell, Robert S. Maxey, Jr., Daniel B. Edwards (Andy), Brian H. Edwards (Brittany), Trey Edwards (Pauline), Jonathan D. Thompson (Rachael), Spencer N. Thompson, G. Cullen Willis, and Garrit H. Hayes; 22 great-grandchildren, Cooper Thompson, Hayley Thompson, Lucy Thompson, Niam Thompson, Lindsey Hill, Christopher Hill, Jr., Madison Hill, Peyton Hill, Emeni Whitlock, Emari Whitlock, Kameron Hill, Jocelynne Hill, Roman Hill, Walter Nelson, Hayden Lipscombe, Scott Edwards, Cayson Edwards, Morgan Catlett, Callie Miller, Trrenton Thompson, Jayce Thompson, and Joshua Heath; and several nieces and nephews.  Frank served in the United States Army and was a POW during the Korean War. Frank was a lifetime member of the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge.  He was a 32 degree Mason and belonged to the ACCA Temple in Richmond, where he was in the Klownz unit.  Frank was also a member of Church of the Redeemer in Mechanicsville.   Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He will be missed by all those who knew him.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  The arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
