Joseph "Joe" Dorton

Joseph “Joe” Preston Dorton, 41 passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Chippenham Johnson Willis Medical Center.  Joe was the son of Cecil Abe “Joe” Jr. and Judy Ann Boyd Dorton and was born in Petersburg General Hospital and resided in Colonial Heights, Virginia. He was a 1997 graduate of Thomas Dale High School and had received an Associate degree from Richard Bland College.  He belonged to the Cub Scouts from 1987 -1990 and the Boy Scouts from 1990 -1998, culminating in achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He was employed as an operator at Dupont Spruance Veoila at the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ted L. and Emma Jean Boyd; paternal grandparents, Cecil A. and Juanita N. Dorton; and father-in-law, Khoa Tan Nguyen.

Joe is survived by his wife, Kathy “Keiu” Nguyen Dorton; daughters, Isabella Nguyen Dorton and Lily Nguyen Dorton; mother-in-law, Kiem Thi Nguyen; sister and brother-in-law, Brandi and Brian J. Baker; niece, Olivia Nicole Baker; devoted uncle, Dan “Cokey” Dorton and wife Audrey; and numerous other family and friends. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at 2:00 pm at St Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Hwy, South Chesterfield, with burial to follow at St Ann Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
