Laura Lipford

Laura A. Lipford, 82, of Dinwiddie went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 5, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Hester Cabaniss; father, James Hammond; brother, Jimmy Hammond and loving husband, Lawrence Lipford. She was baptized at a young age in West End Baptist Church, but spent many years attending and singing in the choir at Shiloh Baptist Church in Dinwiddie. Recently, she was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights for eight years. For much of her working career she was a nurse’s aide in the ER at John Randolph Nursing Home, but later went to work for Brown and Williamson for four years. Some of her favorite things were reading the scriptures, keeping up her home, sewing and displaying generous hospitality to all who came to see her. She loved spending time with her dog, Precious. Mrs. Lipford will be greatly loved and missed by her children, Lawrence Lipford Jr. (Roberta), Charles Lipford (Stacy), Brenda Tate (Gerald) and Carolyn Richardson (Cofield); grandchildren, Christina, Amanda, James and Robert Lipford; Laura, Gerald Jr., and Molly Tate; Jessica Henshaw; Rebecca Hite; and Hester, Claire, James, Joe, Josh, Lee, and Justin Richardson and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will receive guests from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at E.
