Lois Gibbs

Lois Lorraine Gibbs, 81, of Church Road, passed away September 17, 2022. She was born on December 31, 1940 in Roxboro, North Carolina to the late George and Marie Griffin and was a member of Dinwiddie Baptist Church. Mrs. Gibbs worked for Short Run Stamping for over 25 years and she enjoyed dancing and serving her church. More than anything, she loved taking care of her husband and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gibbs Sr.; daughter, Rhonda Marie McNew; son, Richard Wade McNew; and brother, James Griffin. She is survived by her daughter, Tonia D. Jarratt (Waverly Jarratt III); grandchildren, Sherri Vincent, Nicole Effner, Trinity Robb, Paul Robb (Ashley), Jessica Upton, Desiree Jarratt (Devin Butler), Waverly Richard Jarratt IV (Crystal Andrews), and Whitney Upton; and 14 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with Rev. Wilson Conwell officiating.
