Mary Virginia Clements Nugent (Peggy), 87 of Colonial Heights, died August 1, 2021 at Elmcroft Assisted Living.
She was the daughter of the late Newton Lee Clements, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Funk Clements and was preceded in death by her husband Nelson R. Nugent, Sr., her son Nelson R. Nugent, Jr. (Ricky), and her sister Elizabeth Clements Summers.
Mrs. Nugent graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School in Petersburg, VA in 1950. While in school she was the manager of the girls’ basketball team and secretary of her senior class. After high school she worked for the highway department where she did shorthand, typing and general office work. Mrs. Nugent developed polio when she was only 18 months old, and it left her only partial use of her right side. Despite this she learned to play the piano by ear and taught herself to read music. She enjoyed bowling and won many trophies. She was also a den mother for the local Boy Scouts when her sons were young.
Mrs. Nugent is survived by her children, G. Lee Nugent (Veronica) of Colonial Heights, and Robin E. Repetti (John) of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Jeremy L. Nugent of Prince George, Ashley R. Elder (Ricky) of Prince George, Ryan L. Nugent of Albuquerque, NM, Joseph A. Repetti of Las Vegas; and several great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021 in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Rd, S. Prince George, VA 23805. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard.
