Mary Parker

April 16, 1961 — September 2, 2021

Mary “Molly” Thomas-Parker, 60, of Colonial Heights went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 2, 2021. She was preceded by her father, Warner Thomas; brother, John Thomas Taylor; brothers-in-law, Tommy Jones and Chuck Parker.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, John M. Parker, Sr. of Colonial Heights; daughter, Claire Bentley Parker (Harry) of Richmond; son, John Michael Parker, Jr. (Nelia) of Virginia Beach; mother, Mary Thomas; brothers, Bill Thomas (Sarah Schott) of Richmond, J.R. Thomas (Valerie) of Ohio, Chuck Thomas of Florida; sisters, Anne Sicignano (Matt) of Connecticut, Leigh Thomas of Crozet; sisters-in-law, Patsy Parker Jones of Jarratt, Nancy and Karen Parker of Richmond, Lizette Parker of Prince George; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Molly originally started with Richmond Ambulance Service in the early 1980s. She was also the first paid female Firefighter Paramedic hired in the City of Colonial Heights in 1989. She also worked at St. Francis Hospital and John Randolph Medical Center in their emergency rooms, where she took every opportunity to witness for Christ. Over the years, she worked or volunteered with Southside Emergency Crew, Dinwiddie EMS, Hopewell Emergency Crew, and Prince George Emergency Crew. Molly taught for decades for ODEMSA Health Educators and different departments throughout Virginia and even in England. She trained and touched many EMT’s and paramedics in the region. She also enjoyed her time working at Harris & Associates Real Estate, where she worked with great God-fearing people. One of Molly's lifelong enjoyments was the growing and sharing of hostas, ALL hostas. She loved being outdoors and spending time with her family and their dog, River.

Molly loved the Lord with all her being and was a member of Destination Church, 5258 Oaklawn Boulevard, Prince George, Virginia 23860. Her heart was also towards the Creators Fellowship, P.O. Box 1498 Church Rock, NM 87311 on the Navajo Reservation. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either of these organizations.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Destination Church, 5258 Oaklawn Boulevard, Prince George, Virginia 23860. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
