Morris Hudgins

September 23, 1972 — September 20, 2020

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Hence forth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:6-8

Morris B. Hudgins, 47, of Disputanta, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at Southside Regional Medical Center.  It was during this time that the family recognized and acknowledged that another faithful visionary and humble servant of God had made his way home; absent from the body, now present with the Lord.

Morris was an active member of the Hopewell-Prince George Civitan Club of Civitan International, Past Distinguished Governor of the Chesapeake District of Civitan International (receiving numerous awards and recognitions), Past President of the Foundation for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and was also an avid beekeeper and owner of Spring Grove Farms. Mr. Hudgins was a very dedicated husband and father always putting his family first.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie L. Hudgins, from Prince George, Va.; daughters, Madison T. Hudgins, Lauren G. Hudgins, Emily Hudgins; his parents, JoAnn Rayfield (William) of Colonial Heights, Va. and Randolph Kenneth Hudgins Jr. (Linda) of Hopewell, Va. sisters, Tamara Jean Swader and her husband, Glenn of Midlothian, Va., Stephanie Rayfield Gonzalez and her husband, Chris of Midlothian, Va., Bettina Sullivan of Richmond, Beth Crutchfield of Hopewell, Jerry Leigh Harris and her husband, Chris of Colonial Heights, Va., Nicole Louise Garret and her husband, Andy of Colonial Heights, Va., brother, Randolph Kenneth Hudgins III of Henrico, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

God saw the road was getting rough, the hill was hard to climb; He gently closed his eyes and whispered, "job well done." His weary hours, his days of pain, His weary nights are past; His ever patient, worn-out frame Has found rest at last.
