Raymond Morris

Raymond C. Morris, 94, of Ford, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021.  He was born in Dinwiddie, Virginia on March 5, 1927 to the late William Henry Morris Sr. and Hattie Menitree Morris. He worked for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company where he was a supervisor for 26.5 years and he was a part owner in R&D auto sales. Mr. Morris was one of the founding fathers of the Dinwiddie Rescue Squad and was a member of the Hopewell Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Beatrice Morris Mayes, Lillian Morris Moore, William Henry Morris Jr., Margie Morris Ford, and Millie Morris Jernigan. Raymond enjoyed being outdoors and he loved hunting quail, rabbits and deer even though he never got to kill a deer. He enjoyed going to the tractor shop visiting friends, spending time with his family, and watching the westerns. He also enjoyed working with the bird dogs and the beagles and enjoyed slipping food under the table to his three-legged beagle named Tripod.  He is survived by his son, Dwayne Morris (Laura); grandchildren, Meagan Bowles (Brodie), Cody Morris, Cameron Morris, Brittney Chamberlain (Chris), Shanae Cardall (Alex), and Conner Cardall (Emile); great-grandchildren, Aspen Maitland, Porter Chamberlain, Abigail Chamberlain, Kairi Chamberlain, Mason Cardall, and Paisley Cardall; and numerous nieces and nephews..  A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. The family will receive guests beginning at 1 p.m., an hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George.
