Rosa Schumaker

Rosa Edith Schumaker, 81, of Amelia County, Virginia, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. Born on January 13, 1941, in Covington, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Dolphus Morris and Gussie Wilson Wright. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy H. Schumaker, Sr.

Rosa worked for over 30 years with Boddie & Noel Enterprise (Hardee’s), working various roles throughout her employment. She loved to serve and interact with the public. Rosa was a nurturing and loving mother and wife. She felt most at home in a caregiver role to her late husband, Jimmy Schumaker, and late companion and friend, Robert Turner. She had many friends both new and lifelong childhood friends. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sitting on her front porch watching the hummingbirds. Rosa also loved keeping up with her friends and family on facebook. Everyone loved her sense of humor.

She is survived by her son, Jimmy H. Schumaker, Jr. and wife, Cathy of Sutherland, VA; daughter, Tracy Thacker and husband, Ian, of Amelia Courthouse, VA; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road S. Prince George, Virginia 23805. The family will receive friends for a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amelia County, Virginia Animal Shelter, 16565 Five Forks Road Amelia Courthouse, Virginia 23002.
