Wanda Meadows

October 17, 1948 — April 26, 2021

Wanda Joyce Meadows was lovingly welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the age of 72. She was born on October 17, 1948 in Covington, Virginia to Emma Montgomery Humphries and Omer Humphries. She graduated in 1967 from Covington High School and was the Salutatorian of her graduating class.

Upon graduation she married the love of her life. They lived in Germany for a couple years, where her husband was stationed with the United States Army. Upon returning to Covington, Wanda was employed at the Grants Store as a finance manager. The family later relocated to Hopewell, VA and there Wanda worked for Ingram and Associates as a property manager and real estate broker for many years until her retirement. She attended and was an active member of the Cameron Avenue Church of Christ in Colonial Heights. She was involved in the Red Hat Ladies Society and the Silver Shakers Club where she enjoyed fellowship, special events, and bus trips with friends.

Wanda shared a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and we know that she is rejoicing in Heaven with her mother and father, Emma and Omer Humphries; her sisters Lynda, Delores and Jo Ann; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was also preceded in death by a special brother-in-law, Thomas Meadows of Richmond. Wanda loved her family dearly, and she leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 53 years, Arnys “Arny” Meadows, Jr. of Hopewell; her daughter, Stephanie Meadows of Goodyear, Arizona; her son, Tony Meadows of North Chesterfield; her beloved sister, Phyllis “Muzzie” Long and her niece, Lisa Amos and husband Todd all of Covington; her nephew, Kevin Long and wife, Edie of Gaithersburg, Maryland; two brothers-in-law, Matthew Meadows and wife Tammy of Hopewell; and Robert Meadows and wife, Helaine of Chester; her uncle, Clyde Terry of Clifton Forge; her aunt, Dorothy Mangus of Franklin, Indiana; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. She also leaves behind her cherished Dachshund, JJ.

The trips to visit her children, dinners, holidays, laughs, smiles and many wonderful vacations were among her most cherished memories with her family.
